THE PETROCHEMICAL COMPLEX IN SOUTH OF VIETNAM PROJECT

The Southern Petrochemical Complex Project (Long Son, Vung Tau City, Ba Ria Vung Tau Province) invested by SCG Group (Thailand) has a total registered capital of about 5.4 billion USD, with a scale of nearly 5.4 billion USD. 400 ha of land, nearly 70 ha of land with water surface and about 194 ha of water surface for port construction. Construction items have started to deploy from November 2019. Long Son Petrochemical Complex is expected to have a capacity of 998,000 tons of ethylene, 420,000 tons of Propylene, 113,000 tons of Butadiene, 483,000 tons of PP, 525,000 tons of HDPE, and 525,000 tons of LDPE once a year comes into operation.

The project is located in the southern key economic zone of Ho Chi Minh City - Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, adjacent to Cai Mep - Thi Vai port. This is a national key project, which plays an important role in the socio-economic development strategy of the whole country in general and of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province in particular. By 2023, the Southern Petrochemical Complex is expected to be put into operation to help replace and gradually reduce the import of petrochemical products, providing an important source of fuel for domestic manufacturing industries. ; at the same time, creating opportunities to export petroleum products and create jobs for about 20,000 local workers.

Vietnam Global Transport Joint Stock Company is entrusted by contractors to manage and assist in providing customs clearance, receiving, transporting and handing over most of the workload of large packages such as Package Contractor A1 - Olefin Plants (Technip FMC - SK Korea), Package B - HDPE Plant and Package C - PP Plant (by Samsung Engineering Contractor - Korea), Package contractor G - Central Utilities plant (Hyundai Contractor - Korea).

Although the progress of the work and the volume of work is very large, with the effort and professional project implementation capacity, VGT has successfully completed all the assigned work items. Ensure the handover of the entire large volume of equipment, including the heavy and over-dimension equipment of the all contract packages, to the factory site safely and on schedule.
