VIETNAM GLOBAL TRANSPORT CORPORATION (VGT) is proud to be one of the companies entrusted with transporting equipment for the Long Son Petrochemical Complex (LSP) — Vietnam’s first fully integrated petrochemical complex and a national key industrial project. Behind this landmark development lies a demanding requirement: every piece of equipment must be delivered to the construction site with absolute safety and on schedule.

The project is located in Long Son Commune, Vung Tau City, and is invested by Long Son Petrochemicals Co., Ltd. (LSP) – a member of SCG Group (Thailand). By taking part in the supply chain of this project, VGT once again affirmed its position in multimodal transportation of oversized and overweight cargo (Project Logistics & Heavy Lifts) in Vietnam, delivering an integrated solution from port handling and long-haul transportation to final delivery at the construction site.

Multimodal transportation – Absolute safety

VGT undertook the transportation of process equipment classified as out-of-gauge (OOG) cargo for the complex, including process columns, separators, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers.

To move these massive units safely from the port to the site, VGT’s engineering team conducted in-depth technical surveys and assessed the load-bearing capacity of road and bridge infrastructure along the route. Based on these assessments, specialized vehicles and hydraulic multi-axle modular trailers (SPMT) were mobilized to optimize the transport plan and ensure even load distribution.

Port reception & discharge

VGT organized the reception and discharge of equipment directly from vessels using specialized cranes. The equipment was then staged and securely supported on dedicated stands and saddles before beginning its journey to the site — keeping cargo flowing continuously and ensuring the overall construction schedule remained uninterrupted.

Seamless coordination – Full schedule control

Based on field surveys and the characteristics of each shipment, VGT developed a closed-loop execution plan with strict supervision at every stage. An experienced technical and operations team, supported by a fleet of specialized vehicles and lifting equipment, enabled VGT to proactively handle any situation arising on site, ensuring that all equipment was delivered with absolute safety and on schedule.

All equipment was handed over safely and in line with the site’s construction schedule. Long Son stands as one of the projects that best demonstrates what sets VGT apart: the ability to turn a complex transportation challenge into a fully controlled process.
